Construction d’une identité littéraire moderne à travers la relecture d’une esthétique traditionnelle: Fûryû dans les écrits de Kôda Rohan autour de 1890

Abstract : At the crossroads of five fields of reflection - an author (Koda Rohan), an aesthetic notion (furyu: "artistic detachment"), a genre (the novel), a historical period (1885-1895: the first ten years of life of the modern Japanese novel) and a questioning about literary identity - this thesis highlights the emergence of the modern writer in Japan, his complex relationship to the language and the reality it is supposed to represent, his fascination for a novelistic genre that has become the symbol of the new literature, and finally its position in a cantilever between the intoxicating feeling of openness to all possibilities and the need to be situated in relation to its cultural heritage.
