The composer Oscar Esplá (1886-1976) is one of the relevant figures of Spanish Music of XXth Century, also of early decades before civil war as after his coming back from the exile in 1950. The aim of this paper is to explore the integration of young Esplá in the musical life in Madrid from his first premieres (1913) until 1917, the year in which he starts being a musician recognized by his pairs. In this scope, we will examine the music reviews of the premieres of his works, the articles in musical magazines written by other composers as well as the intellectual and artistic circles that he frequented.
