Abstract : The harsh life of the common people in the North China and the social hardship of the 920s and 1930s inspired this voiume of radical poetry from a poet scarred since childhood from injustice and suffering. Wang's experience of living the Japanese-occupied of Tianjin and later Tanggu form the backdrop for these poems. The poetry is written in simple yet emotive language.
