L’autorité apostolique à travers les discours de l’Historia Apostolica d’Arator

Abstract : The authority of the Apostles Peter and Paul in Arator's poem is based on an actualization of the apostolic message that takes into account the discussions and issues of the 6th century Roman Church. The apostolic words are taken from the Acts but also reconfigured by the poet, who uses on this purpose scriptural quotations and patristic commentaries. The poet intends to respond exactly to the theological and disciplinary issues of his time, and to base his responses on the authority of the Apostles (and their successor Pope Vigilius).
