L'oubli de la situation du soldat dans le milieu militaire

Abstract : Although virtue ethics is not dominant in contemporary normative ethics, it is actually the privileged approach in the Western armed forces. A soldier resolves ethical dilemmas in ways that are typical of virtue ethics, focusing on personality rather than the action itself. An analysis of the ways in which soldiers deal with the ethical pitfalls of their profession can lead to a theoretical breakthrough regarding some difficulties in contemporary virtue ethics: the application problem, cultural relativism, and the tension between the just and the good.
