SEAM and nonprofit sports clubs

Résumé

Of the top three world events open to the public, the top two--the Olympic Games and the World Football Cup--emanate directly from nonprofit clubs and associations. These organizations represent a fertile field for management scientists and practitioners. Indeed, given the important role that this part of the nonprofit sector plays in our society, its contribution warrants reconsideration as a factor of societal well-being. Clubs and associations are a vital part of our daily life. We all come into contract-- sooner or later, more or less durably, directly or indirectly--with nonprofit associations, whether during recreational activities (sports or cultural pursuits), in the course of preparing for professional life, as part of our community and societal involvement (social advocacy, unions) or in connection with quality-of-living concerns (health, environment).
