Perspective actionnelle vs approche interactionnelle-constructiviste

Abstract : The Common European Framework’s action-oriented perspective is acclaimed by French research into foreign language teaching as a method vouching for the transmission of a genuine communicative competence in a second language. This action-orientation is based on a highly eclectic linguistic approach, staying very close to speech act theory’s speaker centricity, even though borrowing from a great number of different linguistic paradigms. However, an action-oriented approach not thoroughly based on a veritable interactionist paradigm cannot go beyond the stage of general teaching methodology claiming to systematically consider the student as a social actor not as a learner. Following a discussion of CEFR’s linguistic foundations and basic ideas of the French “perspective actionnelle”, the paper develops keystones of an authentic interactionist linguistic approach as well as principles for a interaction-nist and constructivist teaching methodology deriving from it.
