La construction identitaire en Pisidie : ethnonymes, héros éponyme et parenté mythique

Abstract : Ethnonyms play a fundamental role in the identity construction process of an ethnic group. In this paper, we will analyze the different ethnonyms attested by ancient sources to designate the inhabitants of Pisidia, namely the Pisidians, the Solymes, and the Milyans, in order to understand their reciprocal relationship. Then, we will study the role of the Pisidian eponymous hero Solymos, who makes his appearance in literary, numismatic, and epigraphic sources. Finally, we will assess the importance of mythical kinship in the identity construction of the cities in Asia Minor. More specifically, for the Pisidian context, the town of Selge, considered to be of Lacedaemonian heritage, will prove a crucial example.
